🍩 FLUFFY & BUDGET-FRIENDLY HOMEMADE DONUTS

📝 Ingredients
1 kg (2.2 lb) all-purpose flour
1 cup granulated sugar
½ cup warm milk
4 large eggs
½ cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened
15 g (about 1½ tbsp) active dry yeast
1 tbsp salt
Vegetable oil or shortening, for frying
Granulated sugar, for coating
👩‍🍳 Instructions

  1. Activate the Yeast
In a small bowl, combine the warm milk, 1 tablespoon of the sugar, and the yeast.
Let it sit for 10–15 minutes, or until foamy.
  2. Make the Dough
Place the flour in a large bowl and make a well in the center.
Add the eggs, remaining sugar, salt, softened butter, and activated yeast mixture.
Mix until everything is well combined and a dough begins to form.
  3. Knead
Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and knead for about 10 minutes, or until smooth, elastic, and slightly sticky but manageable.
  4. Let It Rise
Shape the dough into a ball and place it in a lightly greased bowl.
Cover and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  5. Shape the Donuts
Roll the dough out to approximately ½–⅝ inch (1.5 cm) thick.
Cut out the donuts using a donut cutter, or use two round glasses—one large and one small for the center.
Place the donuts on a parchment-lined baking tray.
Cover with a clean towel and let them rest for another 30 minutes.
  6. Fry
Heat the vegetable oil or shortening over medium heat.
Fry the donuts in batches, turning them once they become golden brown on one side.
Cook until golden and cooked through.
Remove and drain on paper towels.
  7. Coat & Serve
While the donuts are still warm, toss them in granulated sugar until evenly coated.
Serve warm and enjoy these soft, fluffy homemade donuts! 🍩❤️
