Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon plain, unsweetened yogurt
- ¼ teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon pure aloe vera gel
- ½ teaspoon honey
- 2–3 drops of water, only if needed to thin the mixture
Instructions
1. Prepare the mixture
Add the plain yogurt to a small, clean bowl. Stir in the aloe vera gel and honey until the mixture is smooth.
2. Add the baking soda
Add only ¼ teaspoon of baking soda and mix gently until everything is evenly combined. The mixture should have a soft, creamy consistency.
3. Patch test first
Before applying it to your face, test a small amount on an inconspicuous area of skin. Wait and make sure there is no irritation or burning.
4. Apply gently
Apply a thin layer to clean, dry skin, avoiding the eyes, lips, nostrils, and any cuts or irritated areas. Do not scrub the skin.
5. Leave it on briefly
Leave the mask on for about 5 minutes the first time. If your skin feels uncomfortable, rinse it off immediately.
6. Rinse thoroughly
Use lukewarm water to gently remove the mask. Pat your face dry with a clean, soft towel.
7. Moisturize
Finish with a gentle, fragrance-free moisturizer. During the daytime, use a broad-spectrum sunscreen.
Important Notes
- Baking soda is alkaline and can irritate or dry out facial skin, so less is more.
- Do not use this mask on broken, sunburned, freshly exfoliated, or irritated skin.
- Avoid getting the mixture near your eyes.
- Don’t use it as a scrub or rub it aggressively into the skin.
- If you experience burning, itching, redness, or irritation, rinse immediately and discontinue use.
- This is a simple DIY skincare recipe for a self-care routine; it is not a treatment for dark spots, wrinkles, acne, or other skin conditions.
- For sensitive skin, you may prefer to skip the baking soda altogether and use the yogurt + aloe vera + honey mixture as a gentle mask.
