Ingredients
For the Dough:
3½ cups all-purpose flour
¾ cup warm milk
2¼ teaspoons instant yeast
¼ cup granulated sugar
½ teaspoon salt
1 large egg
4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
For the Cinnamon Filling:
4 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
¾ cup packed brown sugar
2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
For the Creamy Icing:
4 oz cream cheese, softened
2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
1 cup powdered sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1–2 tablespoons milk, as needed
👩🍳 Instructions
Make the dough: In a large bowl, combine the warm milk, yeast, and sugar. Let it sit for about 5 minutes. Add the melted butter, egg, salt, and flour. Mix until a soft dough forms.
Knead: Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and knead for about 6–8 minutes, until smooth and elastic.
Let it rise: Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
Roll it out: Roll the dough into a large rectangle, approximately 15 × 10 inches.
Add the filling: Spread the softened butter evenly over the dough. Sprinkle the brown sugar and cinnamon generously over the top.
Roll and cut: Starting from the long side, tightly roll the dough into a log. Cut into 9–12 even rolls.
Second rise: Arrange the rolls in a greased baking dish, cover, and let them rise for another 30–45 minutes, until puffy.
Bake: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake for 22–28 minutes, until golden brown and cooked through.
Make the icing: Beat the cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla until smooth and creamy. Add a little milk if needed to reach your desired consistency.
Finish: Spread the icing over the warm cinnamon rolls. Serve warm and enjoy those soft, fluffy, gooey centers! 🤎✨
