Ingredients
4 cups (500 g) all-purpose flour
1 cup (240 ml) warm milk
1 large egg
4 tablespoons (55 g) unsalted butter, softened
2 tablespoons granulated sugar
1 teaspoon salt
2ΒΌ teaspoons (7 g) active dry yeast
8β10 hot dogs or cocktail sausages
Vegetable oil, for deep frying
Instructions
Make the dough:
In a large bowl, combine the warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5β10 minutes, until slightly foamy.
Add the egg, softened butter, and salt. Mix well.
Gradually add the flour while mixing until a soft dough forms.
Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and knead for 8β10 minutes, until smooth, soft, and elastic.
Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
Shape the flowers:
Divide the dough into equal portions. Roll each portion into a round disc, about ΒΌ inch (6 mm) thick.
Place one sausage in the center of each dough circle. Using a sharp knife, cut the dough around the sausage into several equal sections, leaving the center attached.
Fold and pinch the dough sections around the sausage to create a flower shape, just like in the reference image.
Repeat with the remaining dough and sausages. Cover the shaped flowers and let them rest for 15β20 minutes.
Fry:
Heat vegetable oil in a deep pan to about 350Β°F (175Β°C).
Carefully place the sausage flowers into the hot oil. Fry in batches for about 2β3 minutes per side, turning gently, until puffed and evenly golden brown.
Remove them with a slotted spoon and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
Serve:
Serve warm and enjoy these crispy, fluffy sausage flowers as a fun appetizer, snack, or party treat! ππΈβ¨
