Lasagna Recipe
Introduction: Lasagna is a classic Italian dish that consists of layers of pasta, meat sauce, ricotta cheese, mozzarella, and Parmesan. It’s a hearty and flavorful meal that’s perfect for gatherings or family dinners. This lasagna recipe is made with a delicious meat sauce and topped with gooey melted cheese, making it irresistible.
Ingredients:
- 12 lasagna noodles
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 (24 oz) jar marinara sauce
- 1 (6 oz) can tomato paste
- 1 tsp sugar
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 1 (15 oz) container ricotta cheese
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 egg
- Fresh basil or parsley (optional for garnish)
Instructions:
- Cook the noodles: Boil the lasagna noodles in salted water according to the package instructions. Drain and set aside.
- Prepare the meat sauce: In a large pan, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned. Add the chopped onion and garlic, cooking until softened. Stir in the marinara sauce, tomato paste, sugar, salt, and pepper. Simmer the sauce for 15-20 minutes.
- Prepare the cheese mixture: In a bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, egg, and half of the Parmesan cheese. Mix well.
- Assemble the lasagna: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Spread a layer of the meat sauce on the bottom of a baking dish. Add a layer of noodles, then spread half of the ricotta cheese mixture over the noodles. Top with a layer of mozzarella cheese. Repeat the layers, finishing with a layer of meat sauce and mozzarella cheese on top.
- Bake: Cover the lasagna with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes or until the cheese is golden and bubbly.
- Serve: Let the lasagna rest for 10 minutes before slicing. Garnish with fresh basil or parsley, if desired, and serve hot.
