🍩 Golden Coconut-Crusted Homemade Donuts

Ingredients
For the Dough:
4 cups (500 g) all-purpose flour
2¼ tsp (7 g) active dry yeast
½ cup (100 g) granulated sugar
1 large egg
1 cup (240 ml) warm milk
¼ cup (60 g) unsalted butter, softened
½ tsp salt
1 tsp vanilla extract
¼ tsp ground cinnamon (optional)
For Frying:
Vegetable oil, enough for deep frying
For Coating:
1 cup (200 g) granulated sugar
1 cup (80–100 g) unsweetened shredded coconut
Instructions
Mix the warm milk, yeast, and 1 tablespoon of the sugar. Let stand for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
Add the egg, remaining sugar, vanilla, softened butter, and salt. Mix well.
Gradually add the flour and knead for 8–10 minutes until you have a soft, smooth dough.
Cover and let rise in a warm place for 1–1½ hours, or until doubled in size.
Roll the dough to about ½ inch (1.2 cm) thick. Cut into donut shapes.
Place the donuts on a lightly floured tray, cover, and let them rise again for 30–45 minutes.
Heat vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).
Fry the donuts in batches for about 1–2 minutes per side, until beautifully golden brown.
Drain on a wire rack or paper towels.
While still slightly warm, coat the donuts generously with the sugar and shredded coconut mixture.
Serve warm or at room temperature. 🍩🥥
