🍩 Homemade Sugar-Coated Donuts

Ingredients
3 ½ cups (440 g) all-purpose flour
¼ cup (50 g) granulated sugar
2 ¼ teaspoons (7 g) active dry yeast
½ teaspoon salt
¾ cup (180 ml) warm milk
2 large eggs
4 tablespoons (56 g) unsalted butter, melted
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Vegetable oil, for frying
For the Sugar Coating
1 cup (200 g) granulated sugar
Instructions
In a large bowl, combine the warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5–10 minutes, until foamy.
Add the eggs, melted butter, and vanilla extract. Whisk until well combined.
Gradually add the flour and salt, mixing until a soft dough forms.
Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and knead for about 8–10 minutes, until smooth and elastic.
Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1–1½ hours, or until doubled in size.
Roll the dough out to about ½ inch (1.2 cm) thick.
Cut out the donuts using a donut cutter or two round cutters.
Place the donuts on a lightly floured tray, cover them, and let them rise again for about 30–45 minutes.
Heat vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).
Carefully fry the donuts in batches for about 1–2 minutes per side, until puffed and beautifully golden.
Remove them and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
While they’re still slightly warm, toss each donut generously in granulated sugar until completely coated.
