π©βπ³ Instructions
Make the dough:
In a large bowl, combine the warm milk, flour, sugar, instant yeast, salt, and egg. Mix until the ingredients come together and a soft dough forms.
Add the butter:
Add the softened butter and knead for about 8β10 minutes, until the dough becomes smooth, soft, and elastic.
First rise:
Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl. Cover with plastic wrap or a clean kitchen towel and let it rise in a warm place for about 1β1 1/2 hours, or until doubled in size.
Roll out the dough:
Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and gently press out the air. Roll it into a large rectangle, about 1/4 inch (6 mm) thick.
Add the chocolate:
Spread the chocolate chips evenly over the dough, leaving a small border around the edges.
Roll it up:
Starting from one long side, tightly roll the dough into a smooth log, keeping the chocolate filling inside.
Cut the rolls:
Using a sharp knife, cut the log into 10β12 equal pieces.
Arrange in the pan:
Place the pieces upright in a greased 9 Γ 13-inch (23 Γ 33 cm) baking pan, leaving a little space between them.
Second rise:
Cover and let them rise again for about 30β45 minutes, until they become noticeably puffy.
Egg wash:
Brush the tops gently with the beaten egg.
Bake:
Preheat the oven to 350Β°F (175Β°C). Bake for approximately 20β25 minutes, or until the rolls are beautifully golden brown on top.
Final touch:
Let them cool for a few minutes, then gently pull one apart and enjoy the soft, fluffy bread with melted chocolate inside. π«π€€
