🍩 Twisted Sugar Donuts

Ingredients
4 cups (500 g) all-purpose flour
1 cup (240 ml) warm milk
½ cup (100 g) granulated sugar
2 large eggs
4 tbsp (60 g) unsalted butter, melted
2¼ tsp (7 g) active dry yeast
½ tsp salt
1 tsp vanilla extract
Vegetable oil, for frying
½–1 cup granulated sugar, for coating
Method
Activate the yeast: Mix the warm milk, yeast, and 1 tablespoon of the sugar. Let sit for 5–10 minutes until slightly foamy.
Make the dough: Add the eggs, remaining sugar, melted butter, vanilla, and salt. Gradually add the flour and mix until a soft dough forms.
Knead: Knead for about 8–10 minutes until the dough becomes smooth and elastic.
First rise: Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
Shape: Divide the dough into equal pieces. Roll each piece into a long rope, then twist it into a braid/twist shape and seal the ends.
Second rise: Place the shaped donuts on a lightly floured surface, cover, and let them rest for 20–30 minutes.
Fry: Heat vegetable oil to about 350°F (175°C). Fry the donuts in batches for about 2–3 minutes per side, until beautifully golden brown.
Coat: Drain briefly on paper towels, then immediately roll the warm donuts in granulated sugar.
Serve: Enjoy them warm and fluffy! 😍🍩
