🍫 Fried Chocolate Swirls

Ingredients
For the Dough
3 cups (375 g) all-purpose flour
3 tbsp granulated sugar
1 tsp instant yeast
½ tsp salt
1 cup (240 ml) warm milk
1 large egg
3 tbsp (40 g) unsalted butter, softened
For the Chocolate Filling
½ cup (113 g) unsalted butter, softened
½ cup (60 g) powdered sugar
¼ cup (25 g) unsweetened cocoa powder
1 tsp vanilla extract
A pinch of salt
For Frying
Vegetable oil, as needed
Instructions

  1. Make the Dough
In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, instant yeast, and salt. Add the warm milk, egg, and softened butter. Knead for 8–10 minutes, until the dough is smooth, soft, and elastic.
  2. Let the Dough Rise
Cover the dough and place it in a warm, draft-free area. Let it rise for about 40 minutes, or until doubled in size.
  3. Prepare the Chocolate Filling
In a bowl, mix the softened butter, powdered sugar, cocoa powder, vanilla extract, and salt until smooth, creamy, and spreadable.
  4. Roll Out the Dough
Transfer the risen dough to a lightly floured surface. Roll it into a large rectangle about ¼ inch (6 mm) thick.
  5. Add the Chocolate Filling
Spread the chocolate mixture evenly over the dough, leaving a small border around the edges.
  6. Roll and Create the Swirl
Starting from the long side, tightly roll the dough into a log.
  7. Slice
Using a sharp knife, cut the log into pieces about 1–1½ inches (2.5–4 cm) thick.
  8. Second Rise
Arrange the slices on a lined tray. Cover and let them rest for 20–30 minutes.
  9. Deep Fry
Heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C). Fry the swirls in batches for about 2–3 minutes per side, turning carefully, until puffed and golden brown.
  10. Drain and Serve
Remove the swirls with a slotted spoon and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil. Serve warm or at room temperature.
✨ Crispy and golden on the outside, soft and fluffy inside, with a rich chocolate swirl in every bite! 🍫🤎
