Ingredients
For the Dough
3½ cups (440 g) all-purpose flour
2¼ tsp (7 g) instant yeast
¼ cup (50 g) granulated sugar
1 tsp salt
1 cup (240 ml) warm milk
1 large egg
¼ cup (60 g) unsalted butter, softened
For the Cinnamon Filling
½ cup (100 g) brown sugar
2 tbsp ground cinnamon
¼ cup (60 g) unsalted butter, softened
For the Cream Cheese Frosting
100 g cream cheese, softened
2 tbsp (30 g) unsalted butter, softened
1 cup (120 g) powdered sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
1–2 tbsp milk, as needed
Instructions
In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, instant yeast, sugar, and salt.
Add the warm milk, egg, and softened butter. Mix until a dough forms, then knead for 8–10 minutes, until the dough is smooth, soft, and elastic.
Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and roll it into a large rectangle, about ¼ inch (6 mm) thick.
Spread the softened butter evenly over the entire surface of the dough.
Mix the brown sugar and cinnamon together, then sprinkle evenly over the butter.
Roll the dough tightly from the long side into a log. Using a sharp knife, cut it into 10–12 equal rolls.
Arrange the rolls in a greased baking dish, leaving a little space between them. Cover and let them rise again for 30–45 minutes, until puffy.
Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until golden brown.
For the frosting, beat the softened cream cheese and butter until smooth. Add the powdered sugar and vanilla, then gradually add the milk until creamy and spreadable.
Spread the cream cheese frosting generously over the warm cinnamon rolls.
Serve warm and enjoy these soft, fluffy, buttery cinnamon rolls! 🤎🍥
